The Laser Analysis Division promotes the use of Tunable Diode Laser Spectroscopy (TDLS) to measure gas components such as CO, CO2, CH4, HCL, NH3, H2O in near real time (2-5 seconds) T100 response in situ or extractive. This technology virtually eliminates interferences from other background gases and the need for costly sensor replacements. The constant PIP (positive indication of performance) adds an additional layer of safety and is a key stone in the implementation of this technology for process control and meeting increasingly stringent safety demands.
Station 2: CombustionONE
CombustionOne utilizes the radiant section TDLS measurements of O2, CO, CH4 to provide a comprehensive control package that will optimize a fired heater asset with the goal of providing the following benefits to the end-user: fuel cost savings, safety (CH4 flame out detection), stack emission reduction (NOx), control to safe-state rather than trip, asset life extension.
Station 3: GC8000 Gas Chromatograph
The GC8000 is Yokogawa’s newest gas chromatograph platform. With a long history from1956, Yokogawa gas chromatographs have always offered one of the most stable analyzers on the market with low cost of ownership. The current version offers up-to-date industry standard communications for direct linking to not only the CENTUM but any inferior DCS as well.
Station 4: Measurementation
Raw hardware is only one part of any plants analytical needs. With Measurementation, Yokogawa offers global centers of excellence in Analytical Systems Integration. From sample tap to analysis, we can help you with all your analyzer needs. Measurementation is proudly now the largest such packager in the world, as we currently are finishing field delivery of the Sadara Project, a $100M analyzer project. The next step is the three years of training we will be supplying for this multibillion dollar industrial complex.
Station 5: Gas Analytical
Real-time gas analysis enhances efficiency, safety, throughput, product quality, and ensures environmental compliance. Gas analysis can utilize various technologies such as tunable diode laser spectroscopy, zirconia oxygen analysis, infrared gas analysis, stack gas analysis, dust monitoring, process gas chromatography, continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS), hydrogen purity analysis and gas density systems. Selecting the correct technology is critical to measurement accuracy, reliability, and durability.
Station 6: The Personal Operator Control Pod- Immersive Operations
Is this an operator console of the future? Blur the line that interfaces man and machine, operator and control system, with the latest in control room technology. A highly stylish ergonomic design and efficient work environment for the control room provides quasi immersion to the process through strategically positioned monitors, audio system and accessories. This console provides an individualized ergonomic environment that is designed for those long hours spent in front of computer monitors.
Station 7: Independent ProSafe-RS
ProSafe-RS Stand Alone Solution: Yokogawa has an excellent solution for integrated process control and safety. But what if you need to add a relatively small safety instrumented system to your process? Here you will find a ProSafe-RS system that can be connected to most distributed control systems. Next to complete safety system diagnostics overview and control, it includes all process safety maintenance controls such as overrides management as well as Safety Instrumented Function overview displays and test functions. It is ideal for adding a safety instrumented system to any process control system and for skid mounted safety solutions such as boiler and combustion systems, ovens, furnaces and fluid heaters.
Augmented reality, provided by Google Glass, could change the way you see your plant. Demos showed how Glass connectivity augments field information. Looking at a transmitter, its information is delivered to you. iMaintain helps keep the pulse of your plant in the palm of your hand, taking advantage of tablet computing to augment information delivered to field personnel for every field asset. Also, new wireless corrosion monitoring sensors will improve the safety and reliability of fixed equipment and pipelines of your plant. A mobile iPhone application is used to demonstrate system overview and remote application displaying CENTUM VP graphics.
Station 9: Safety and Asset Excellence Solutions
Latest revision of PRM - Asset Management Software supports NAMUR NE107 for self-monitoring and diagnosis of field devices.
Signal view function and a live demonstration of partial stroke test (PST) for safety instrumented digital valve positioner was featured.
Station 10: Production Excellence Solutions
Yokogawa provides production excellence solutions for continuous and batch processes. Several solutions were shown here, including Process Historians using Exaquantum and Exaquantum/Batch, comprehensive ISA 18.2 based alarm management using CAMS and Exaquantum/ARA, ISA 106 based Modular Procedural Automation using Exapilot, and secure remote access using VTSPortal.
FAST/TOOLS is a Yokogawa SCADA solution for production excellence in the area of pipeline management, collaborative decision support and STARDOM HMI.
Station 12: DTSX & STARDOM
Yokogawa’s DTSX combined with STARDOM RTU gives you the ultimate temperature measurement and control system, good for up to 16 channels with 6000 points of measurement per channel. So whether it is down hole for upstream or leak detection on a pipeline or tracing a steam line, Yokogawa has your temperature measurement and control solutions covered.
Station 13: Advanced Solutions and Services Console
The sit-stand operator console, courtesy of Winsted, consists of a quad central monitor flanked by two monitors with a large 60” monitor showcasing various Yokogawa advanced solutions. They include:
1. OmegaLand high-fidelity operator training simulator
The Omegaland platform is an integrated environment for dynamic simulation and is designed for modeling plants. Interfaced via Yokogawa Training interface to CENTUM VP, OmegaLand provides for high fidelity modeling that can be used not only for operator training scenarios, but process simulation as well.
2. Yokogawa’s new platform for the terminal market is Terminal Logistic Suite (TLS VP). Interfaced to CENTUM VP, TLS VP provides a set of modules for high level automation and management of chemical, liquid and gas terminals. This software can be used on various types of terminals including LNG, LPG, and ammonia, both large and small and provides truck, ship and rail loading/unloading, inventory management, security control and audit trail and other movement operations.
3. Also shown in this advance solution area was an Analyzer Management and Data Acquisition System (AMADAS). Yokogawa’s platform name for this analyzer asset management is AAIMS- Advanced Analyzer Information Management System.

Station 16: Test & Measurement – DL850
Measure and analyze a wealth of signals in real-time and speed up development and fault finding.
The DL850E ScopeCorder is a powerful, portable data acquisition recorder and oscilloscope that can capture and analyze both transient events and trends up to 200 days. Using flexible modular inputs, the DL850E combines measurements of electrical signals, physical (sensors) and CAN / LIN serial buses and is able to trigger on electrical power related and other calculations in real-time.
Station 17: Controllers & Data Acquisition
Yokogawa data acquisition and control solutions are recognized worldwide for having extraordinary quality, stability, and long life operation even in the harshest of environments. Many of these successes have been built on the result from knowledge obtained in Yokogawa’s fifty plus years of experience developing and deploying data acquisition and control solutions worldwide. Significant changes in the market are setting the tone for the future, and Yokogawa will be leading the way meeting the challenging needs of the data acquisition and control market segments.
Station 18: Net Oil
The Yokogawa RotaMASS, with its unique GVF function, can be used for calculating the net oil flow, a standard application in the oil and gas industry. The density of the oil is well-known based on tables and/or equations (API or vendor specific approximation). Based on this, the density of the oil at the operating temperature can be determined. By comparison with the measured density, the Coriolis meter is able to immediately detect entrained gas (measured density < calculated density). In this condition, the calculated oil density was fed into the volume flow calculation and the net oil flow will be indicated correctly. Additionally, the volume percentage of the two components can be calculated based on the density ratio between measured density and calculated oil density. The measurement works seamlessly and without delay in response of the measurement. This provides increased qualitative and quantitative understanding of each well for the owner.

Station 20: Flow
Since developing its first magnetic flow meter for industrial use in 1953, Yokogawa has focused on broadening the range of applications for this technology. To ensure a high degree of reliability, the manufacturing of all key components is done in-house and in accordance with our rigorous quality control standards. Yokogawa released the world's first vortex flow meter in 1979. Thanks to its long-term stability and high accuracy, our customers have achieved significant improvements in productivity over the past thirty years. RotaMASS is the integral and remote type coriolis mass flow meter. Both types have highly refined digital signal processing electronics so that accurate and stable mass flow measurement is achieved.
Station 21: Liquid Analytical
Liquid analyzers are used for monitoring process chemistry including water quality, providing process optimization and control. Common measurements include pH, ORP, conductivity, resistivity, percent concentration and dissolved oxygen. Liquid analysis is essential for protecting capital assets including boilers and cooling towers, by preventing corrosion, minimizing maintenance, and maximizing uptime.
Station 22: Pressure
Yokogawa pressure transmitters, with advanced invested technology, are recognized worldwide as the leader in pressure measurement. The DPharp technology has set a new standard for accuracy, stability, and durability under the harshest conditions. With guaranteed digital accuracy anywhere in the turndown range, Yokogawa DPharp transmitters can be taken from inventory, spanned for the required range, and installed without recalibration for a stability of up to ten years. Create a certification program for your operators, verifying their ability to handle process upsets in a self-paced environment.
Station 25: Poken
Poken is a digital business card for enhanced networking. Poken was used to exchange business card information with other attendees and to collect files such as presentations, brochures, and images. The Poken computer station was set up the convenience to sync Poken, view contacts, and edit profiles. The leaderboard was kept in real-time to see who collected the most Poken points - the winner being Tom Craig of Feedforward.
Station 26: Human Resources
As students from local universities visited Yokogawa’s Users Conference and Exhibition, Yokogawa's Human Resources representatives were their first source of communication for general information about the company as well as future career opportunities. The HR staff guided students through the exhibition, and gave them a chance to obtain insight into the field of automation.
